Product Description

The Canine Center for Training and Behavior in Southwest Austin has loaned us one of their finest! Jyl  is a wealth of knowledge about dogs, different breeds, and their behaviors.  She will offer you insight into how to prepare your 4-legged baby for the 2-legged one soon to enter your home.  Even the calmest, best-natured dogs need some preparation before the new baby arrives.  Jyl will give you the tools to work with your pet, help you prepare before the baby’s arrival, and alert you to things you should be aware of.

This class is designed for expecting parents, new parents, or anyone who has kids and wants to know more about dogs and how they view and interact with children. The class offers an overview on the different ways a dog views a child from infancy up to teenager, and how this explains behavior issues that may arise. This is a single-session class designed for the humans in the family (your dog should stay at home).

Duration:  Single Session that will meet for 1 hour and 30 minutes

Class Time:  Saturdays, 3:15 – 4:45

About The Instructor

Jyl Hershman-Ross, Trainer, Behavior Consultant

Jyl is a wealth of information on every breed of dog, their behaviors, and their personalities.  Her classes are always upbeat, fun and informative.  She is on loan from the The Canine Center for Training and Behavior in South Austin to teach our Special Addition classes.

Before her start at The Canine Center, Jyl worked in radio, using her position to help dog rescue organizations whenever she could. During this time, Jyl acquired a puppy who she came to realize needed a lot of training. Jyl met Lee Mannix – a bigger than life Texan with a gift when it came to training dogs. From that moment on, Jyl’s passion for helping dogs drove her to where she is today. Jyl acquired her certification as a CPDT-KA and is currently a Level 2 Tellington T-Touch Companion Animal Practitioner. Jyl continues to study and train and is specifically focused on working with fearful and aggressive dogs. Jyl and her husband live with the cats and dogs who have claimed them. Jyl enjoys surrounding herself with good friends, music, and bright colors.
